The warm climate also draws beachgoers and water babes to the pleasantly heated waters on Egypt's east coast from April to November. The fabulous tourist infrastructure with countless opportunities for fun and water sports is sure to fulfil all holiday desires.
Thanks to the many restaurants, hotels and, of course, the souk (the typical Arabian bazaar), the social heart of the city beats in Dahar, the newer centre of Hurghada. Also worth seeing is Aldahaar mosque that lies at the centre of the city. The impressive building with its two thin minarets dominates the cityscape and is visible for afar. Indeed, the mosque is like a construction from another time and world: particularly in the evenings, when the snow-white façades are discreetly illuminated, a secretive atmosphere seems to reign.
Recommended is a day trip to northern El Gouna, a newly-created green city, which stretches out beside countless lagoons and waterways. The uniform, colourful city scene is particularly inviting for taking a walk or a boat trip and the day can be brought to a perfect end by relaxing in one of the elegant restaurants or cosy bars.
